REDUCED . . . Three Handwritten St. Thomas Parish Church Sermons 1849 Easter, 1852 and 1854
These three sermons relate to St. Thomas Parish Church in Cainhoy, SC. The church is now protected and maintained by The Society of St. Thomas & St. Denis, 1706 described at http://scpictureproject.org/berkeley-county/st-thomas-church.html I do not know the Pastor’s name; however, the Society should be able to determine that. These are the ORIGINAL handwritten sermons for those particular dates. Please note that towards the bottom of the front page of each is the small abbreviated notation that Holy Communion would be held. They are securely bound with thread. There is some page loss as described below; however, very little. Each page is about 8 by 9.875 inches. Pages are not brittle and can be handled with normal care.
Each sermon starts with a verse from the Holy Bible.
The Tomb of Jesus: A Sermon Preached at St. Thomas Pas(ish) Ch(urch) Easter Day 1849
Easter Day in 1849 was April 8, 1849. There are 39 pages of the actual sermon. Some paper loss at corners. Images 2, 3, 4 and 5 are the front, first, two in the middle and last written pages. This is more valuable as it celebrates Easter and the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Indifference to Religion, A Sermon Preached at St. Thomas Par(ish) Ch(urch) 5th Sund(ay) Lent March 28th 1852 There are 22 pages of the actual sermon. There is loss of a bottom corner of the last page per images. Images 6, 7, 8 and 9 are the front, first, and last two written pages (bottom corner loss).
Christ Our Life and Death Our Gain A Sermon Preached and in small penciled script is “St. Ch”. In the upper right corner are two penciled notations as well. And the notation “54” for 1854. There are 19 pages of the actual sermon. Images 10, 11 and 12 are the front, first, and last written page.
These will be mailed free in the United States by Priority Mail. I will put them in the original manila folder in which I found them and add at least 6 panels of heavy corrugated cardboard to reduce the change of bending. These will be taped to prevent shifting. Then all will be placed in a large manila envelope with FRAGILE and DO NOT BEND stickers affixed front and back. USPS tracking is included.
I originally found two sermons for this church and I donated them to The Society of St. Thomas & St. Denis, 1706. Scroll towards the bottom of this page at the below link and at comment number five I describe the donation. http://scpictureproject.org/berkeley-county/st-thomas-church.html They were conservatively valued at $350 and $450 respectively.
I later found these three sermons and wanted to donate them as well. However, after three email attempts, a formal letter and also contacting the website manager located at this link https://www.stthomasstdenis.com/ I never received any communication from them for almost four months of trying. So, I have given up and offer these for sale.
