This is a nice Mossberg 46A rifle. No serial number found as it pre-dates the 1968 requirement. The 26 inch bore; muzzle to closed bolt, is shiny with very distinct rifling. Thumb safety works as it should and the bolts seats perfectly. Crisp trigger. Excellent wood with only minor dings; very small piece at right side of forestock at end on top missing. Touched up and you will not notice it. Has nice cheek rest. Bluing is very good and appears original. Some fading on top near front sight; I do not consider it anything to worry about, but it should be noted. No rust found. In the last image of the rifle at the top edge of the cover plate is a bit of grime; not rust or corrosion. I saw it after the images were taken and it came right off with my fingernail. Tube fed; original, and sits securely. Butt pad original. Muzzle end excellent. Front and rear sights perfect and swivel mounts firmly attached.
Tapped around the receiver on left side as shown in the last two rifle images. Nicely done with proper screws and plate covering the tapped parts. Appears to have been set up for a scope mount as well as a peep sight. Nice touch as this is a 26 inch bore 22. Can be easily set up for long range 22 targets and competition. Rifle feels quite comfortable to handle; especially with the built-in cheek rest.
Marked on top of barrel with:

The Mossberg 46 series rifles were made from 1935 to 1945 in various models; see last image info. The 46A Models were made in 1937 and 1938. This is a nice example in my opinion.

I can mail rifles and parts via USPS if requested. If in SC I can ship directly to you. If out of SC I must ship to a FFL; if your FFL will accept it from an individual as I am not a FFL. I am selling off most of my collection to concentrate on a few firearms as I do not have the time to enjoy them all. This firearm has not been fired for an extended period of time as it has been sitting in my gun safe. However, all functions were dry tested and firearm visually inspected for this offering. Sold AS IS with no refund unless not as described and pictured. Please ask for any added information desired. CONTACT AT: https://www.alberthistoricdocuments.com/alberts-firearms-for-sale.html
